With Special Guest Charlotte Wildgoose-Morley
Brian and Donna had a special guest in the studio with them last week. Charlotte, who some listeners may remember as a previous presenter at the station, had joined the Thursday morning team to talk about the organisation she works for.
SEAP is an independent charity which provided free and confidential advocacy services for those within the community on health and wellbeing and health and social care services.
The organisation supports people, especially the most vulnerable within society, to have their voices heard, access their rights and take more control over their lives.
Charlotte explained that SEAP stands for Support, Empower, Advocate, Promote. The following information taken from their website explains how this is achieved:
This is what we do.
We support people to express their views and wishes, especially those who are vulnerable, isolated or marginalised.
We empower people to have their voice heard so that they can access their rights and take a central role in decisions that are made about their lives.
We advocate on behalf of our clients to ensure that their views influence the planning, delivery and development of services that affect their lives.
We promote the value of advocacy by sharing our knowledge, experience and values with others and championing the involvement of service-users in the design and delivery of health and social care services.
Our clients are at the heart of what we do.
All their advocates are well trained and strive towards the principles of independence, confidentiality and empowerment.
The organisation also runs training for those who may need to understand the advocacy role within health and social care.

As part of this service, the organisation will be running a weekly drop in session for veterans on the last Wednesday monthly at:
The Beeches Community Café, Bulford Road, Bulford Camp, SP4 9BT
These sessions will provide free advocacy support for veterans and their close family members on issues such as; housing, benefits, health, care, employment/training and finance.
As it is a drop in session there is no need to book in advance.
