Home Schooling Tips & Resources

With many of us having to juggle working from home with teaching the kids during this period, we thought it might be useful to provide a list of links and resources with some helpful hints and tips to see you through the next few weeks.

A great resource which covers the early years right through to GCSE years and beyond is BBC Bitesize. You can create an account so that you can tailor the resources to a specific age group, or multiple age groups if you are using this resource for more than one child. There are class clips, video's and games and they have now just launched Daily Lessons - a further way to help with learning as there are 3 new lessons each day for Maths and English along with regular lessons in Science, History etc which can be tailored to the appropriate key stage.

Many will already be familiar with the number of downloadable resources available through Twinkl, which has a number of membership options, from free through to £8.49 per month. However, due to the current situation, Twinkl are offering free membership for 1 month, check out their website here for more information.

For any mini bookworms, check out getepic.com which provides a digital library for those 12 and under. there are also videos and quizzes to keep the little ones amused and learning at the same time.

Any budding dancers out there? Then you might like to check out Oti Mabuse's page on Youtube, as she and her husband, fellow Strictly dancer Marius, will be streaming a new fun dance routine each day, with recent dances taken from Harry Potter, Shrek and Frozen.

Bookworms will be pleased to hear that David Walliams is releasing a free children's audio story each day for the next couple of weeks from his Worlds Worst Children short story collection, as recently announced on his Instagram page. For more information and where to access these audio stories you can visit the elevenses page on his website here.

Eparenting is a treasure trove of resources aimed at children of all ages, from reception onwards, from revision guides to tips and tricks to keeping the kids entertained without screen time.
